Programme outline

The Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB) Scholarship was first introduced by the Ministry of
Education and Culture to embrace higher education globalization by providing financial assistance
(scholarship) to the selected Indonesian Universities, to recruit potential international students to
acquire Master's degrees in those universities. The KNB Scholarship program has expanded and is now
offered to potential students from developing countries to acquire Bachelor's or Master's degrees at
the prestigious universities in Indonesia. The Indonesian Government is offering 140 Master's and
five Bachelor's degrees scholarships. All programmes are delivered in Bahasa Indonesia.

Applications deadline is 01 April 2019 to 30 April 2019.


- Applicants must not be older than 35 years of age;
- Applicants must hold a Bachelor degree (Master's degree holder is not eligible to apply);
- Applicants must have a TOEFL (or other certified English Proficiency) score of 500 or

What the scholarship offers

- Settlement Allowance of IDR 1,000,000
- New students will only receive living allowance to the value of IDR 2,550,000 per month while
  taking the Indonesian language course and preparatory programs
- Health insurance with a maximum of IDR 200,000 monthly premium
- Round-trip international airfare from the scholarship recipient's home country to Indonesia, and
  local transport to the host university
- Annual book allowance: BND$600.00

During Master's studies, KNB scholarship recipients will receive a scheme of monthly allowance as follows:

- Research Allowance - IDR 400,000
- Books Allowance - IDR 350,000

Application process

Interested candidates who meet the above eligibility criteria must complete an online application
through the KNB Scholarship website at:

Online application procedure:

  • Download the Invitation Letter (Available in the KNB Scholarship website);
  • Submit the Invitation letter, passport, academic certificates and academic transcripts to the
        Indonesian Embassy to acquire the recommendation letter; and
  • Complete the online application process.
  • The online application process must be completed by no later than 30 April 2019.

    Applications must contain the following documents:

  • Recommendation letter from the Indonesian Embassy in the country of origin;
  • Nomination letter should the applicant work for a Government Agency or Embassy of the
        applicant's country of origin in Indonesia;
  • Two academic recommendation letters;
  • Official copy of passport (personal data page only) or birth certificate;
  • Official Bachelor's degree certificate and academic transcripts (in English);
  • Scanned TOEFL score certificate (or other English Proficiency Tests) obtained within the last two
        years; and
  • Medical Statement prepared by a certified physician.
