A number of countries have dedicated websites where you can learn about studying in their country and search for various scholarship or study opportunities. Some of these opportunities may not be specifically for South Africans (they could be open for anyone), they may be partially funded or fully funded and they may be offered by institutions or other agencies. You will need to explore the links and the information available to see if you are eligible and interested in applying for any of the numerous opportunities.
AUSTRIA: Scholarships and Research Grants
Austria is offering a variety of scholarships and study grants for international students who wish to study in Austria.

Are you an international student in search of scholarships to study in Canada, or a Canadian student who wants to fund your studies abroad? On the EduCanada website you will find numerous awards for international students and scholars in Canada, and for Canadians to study and conduct research abroad. These awards are offered by Canadian governments, foreign governments, non-governmental organizations and international organizations.
Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships – valued at C$50,000 per year for 3 years, applicants are assessed on Academic Excellence, Research Potential and Leadership – candidates are nominated by a Canadian institution, typically in November of each year. There are a total of 500 scholarship recipients at any given time, 166 per year. More information here.
CHINA: China Scholarship Council

FRANCE: Campus France South Africa
Campus France is an agency of the French Ministries of European and Foreign Affairs and of Higher Education and Research. Its goal is to promote French Higher Education and facilitate academic exchange between French tertiary institutions and those in the rest of the world. The French Embassy in South Africa offers annual Master's level scholarships for South Africans to study in France. GERMANY: German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)
The DAAD is the world’s largest funding organization for the international exchange of students and researchers. Since it was founded in 1925, around two million scholars in Germany and abroad have received DAAD funding.
The DAAD awards a variety of postgraduate scholarships to South Africans for study and research in Germany as well as in other Sub-Saharan African countries. HUNGARY: Study in Hungary

The Hungarian Government offers scholarships annually to South Africans. More information on the application process will be availalbe on this website when the call is open.
NETHERLANDS: Study in Holland
Study in Holland is an initiative of Nuffic, funded by the Dutch government. It is the starting point for getting a unique study experience in the Netherlands. This is the official national guide that assists international students by providing them with information about English-taught study programmes and living in the Netherlands.
POLAND: Research in Poland
For official information on studying in Poland, visit the Study in Poland website. You can browse more than 400 English study programmes in Poland.
The Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), known for supporting international academic exchange, internationalization of universities and research institutions, has launched “Research in Poland” platform dedicated for foreign scientists and PhD candidates who are interested in pursuing scientific research.
The aim of the platform is to fulfil three key informational and promotional requirements:
1. Provide foreign researchers with key information concerning the Polish system of higher education and the organization of their stay in Poland;
2. Equip the researchers interested in pursuing their scientific careers in Poland with tools such as search engines enabling them to find: jobs/projects, grants, scientific events, so that they can find what is most relevant for them; and
3. Promote the achievements of Polish science and Polish scientists through the success story component.

SWEDEN: Study in Sweden
Studyinsweden.se is a comprehensive, official resource on higher education in Sweden for prospective and current international students. It has information about the higher education system, universities, life in Sweden and scholarships.
SWITZERLAND: Studying in Switzerland

Each year, the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships for international post-graduate researchers in any discipline. This is done with the intention of promoting international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and 180 other countries. Applications normally close in December each year, and can only be submitted by fulfilling all the application requirements published in the annual call.
