The Iraq Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is calling qualifying international students who want to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the Republic of Iraq’s to apply to private and governmental universities, colleges and specialized institutions for the 2024/2025 academic intake.

The Study in Iraq scholarship programme aims to encourage cultural diversity in the academic environment and to enhance international understanding and cooperation through their full, half and private scholarship categories.

Who can Apply?

  • Applicant and/or applicant’s parents must not be of Iraqi origin,
  • Applicant must not hold a high school certificate from the Republic of Iraq,
  • Applicant must not have previously obtained a seat in an educational institution in Iraq
  • Applicant must not have applied for an admission programme in one of the country's education institutions

Free Tuition Scholarships

Undergraduate Study

  • Must meet the minimum average for admission to the university or college in which they wish to apply:
    • Medical group (General medicine) 85%, Dentistry and Pharmacy 75%
    • Engineering and nursing group specialization 65%
    • Other scientific and humanities specialization 60%
  • Must not be older than 30 years

Postgraduate Study

  • The applicant must meet the minimum average for admissions of 65% for a Postgraduate/higher Diploma and Master’s and 75% for a PhD
  • The applicant must not be more than 40 years to obtain a Master’s or its equivalent and not more than 45 years for a PhD

Half-Tuition Scholarships

Undergraduate Study

  • Must meet the minimum average for admission to the university or college in which they wish to apply:
    • Medical group (General medicine) 75%, Dentistry and Pharmacy 70%
    • Engineering and nursing group specialization 60%
    • Other scientific and humanities specialization have no average conditions
  • Must not be older than 33 years
  • Accepted students have the option to choose evening classes if available

Postgraduate Study

  • The applicant must meet the minimum average for admissions at 60% for a Postgraduate/higher Diploma and Master’s and 70% for a PhD

Private Expense Scholarship

Undergraduate Study

  • Must meet the minimum average for admission to the university or college in which they wish to apply:
    • Medical group (General medicine) 75%, Dentistry and Pharmacy 70%
    • Engineering and nursing group specialization, other scientific and humanities specialization have no average requirements
  • There is no age restriction

Step 2. Fill out personal and academic information

Step 3. Upload Passport details

Step 4. Apply for study programme

Step 5. Choose the university and study channel (Free tuition scholarship or half tuition scholarship)

Step 6. Upload required documents

  • Certified certificate copy of previously completed study,
  • Certified passport copy,
  • Certified birth certificate or Identity document, and
  • A written pledge not to submit the application to any education institution in Iraq and state that the information is correct
