The Government of Mexico through the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID) is inviting applications from foreigners interested in carrying out short stays in Mexico, at Bachelor's and Master's level, to present their activities and experience in Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) in Mexican universities, to participate in the "Call for Scholarships for COIL projects from the Mexican Government for Foreigners 2023"
The Mexican government is providing scholarships to international students to carry out an exchange of experiences and best practices that contribute to the improvement of quality, management, internationalization, teaching and management schemes of Mexican public higher education institutions, or as part of the COIL Project scheme.

Who can apply?
The following criteria applies across all level of study:
- Academics and students with experience in COIL projects at the time of applying or who have carried out a COIL Project with any Mexican Higher Education Institution (HEI).

What the scholarship covers
The scholarship includes registration and tuition fees at the participating Mexican higher education institutions. In addition, scholarship recipients will receive:
- One-time stipend for living expenses (accommodation, food, and development of activities) equivalent to 4 (four) times the monthly value of the Federal Economic Measurement Unit (UMA), currently $12,614.80 (Twelve thousand six hundred and fourteen pesos 80/100 M.N.)
- Waiver of costs for issuing the Mexican visa;
- International air flight transportation upon completion of the academic programme. AMEXCID will determine the flight route;
- Should the scholarship recipient be pursuing studies outside the Metropolitan Area of Mexico City, ground or air transportation will be provided depending on the travel time.
Application process
Applications must be submitted electronically through the Academic Cooperation Management System (SIGCA) at: https://sigca.sre.gob.mx.
The application registration must be in Spanish.

- A group application composed of one academic and a maximum of two to five students;
- The professor and each student must register in SIGCA, attaching all the required documents;
- Students must include in each form the name of the professor with whom they will form a team.
Characteristics of the documents.
- Documents in a language other than Spanish must be accompanied by a simple translation into Spanish, on a separate sheet of paper, and must be signed by the applicant;
- The applicant must send the documents in colour PDF format (Maximum size 1.8 MB);
- All documents requested must be attached to the application on the system before the closing date of the call for applications;
- The documents must be legible.
Requested documents:
- Copy of a valid passport;
- Signed declaration letter from the applicant (Format 1);
- Background information of group members (Form 2);
- Application letter from the institution of origin (Format 3);
- Letter of acceptance by an Institution of Higher Education in Mexico (Form 4);
- Copy of the medical certificate issued by a public or private health institution, with a maximum of 3 (three) months prior to the submission of the application, stating that you are in good health;
- COIL Project (Format 5);
- Letter of commitment along with image and intellectual property rights agreement (Form 6);
- Copy of the international insurance certificate covering the candidate during his/her stay in Mexico. In case of not having the document, a written statement taking responsibility for your health and integrity and releasing AMEXCID from any responsibility for any issue that may endanger or threaten your health and life (The document must be signed in blue ink).
