Applications are now open for the Managing Global Governance Academy programme commencing in September to November 2025 at the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) in Bonn, Germany. 

The MGG Academy brings together experts from government institutions, think tanks, research institutions, civil society organisations, and the private sector from Brazil, China, the EU, India, Indonesia, Mexico, and South Africa. This three-month, full-time programme fosters global cooperation and leadership skills through deep self-reflection and experience-based learning.

Degree level

The MGG Academy is a full time, three-months programme that takes place from 04 September – 23 November 2025 in Bonn, Germany.

Who can apply?

Participants must:

  • Be a national or a permanent resident of one of the participating countries;
  • Work on global governance and/or sustainable development issues;
  • Hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree;
  • Have 3 to 15 years of professional experience in a relevant field;
  • Be proficient in English for active participation;
  • Have employer support (written proof required);
  • Commit to the full-time, intensive programme (40 hours per week);
  • Be open to cultural exchange, teamwork, and self-reflection;
  • Be willing to reflect on shared and individual experiences, attitudes and competences.

Employers are requested to:

  • Grant special leave for the training period;
  • Cover travel costs to and from Germany;
  • Ensure financial stability for the employee’s family during their absence;
  • Support the integration of acquired competencies into the workplace.

Structure and set-up of the MGG Academy

The MGG Academy combines knowledge components on global sustainability challenges with the development of the participants’ leadership competences.

Scholarship offer

In detail, the support includes:

  • Free participation in all programme components;
  • Accommodation during all stages;
  • Monthly stipend (€2,200 total, paid in three instalments);
  • Health, accident and personal liability insurances;
  • Monthly ticket for local public transport;
  • MGG Academy related travel costs in Germany and Europe.

Note: The scholarship does not cover travel to Germany or financial support for family members.
