The Government of Cyprus, in collaboration with the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (CING), is offering up to three (3) postgraduate scholarships to South African nationals for the 2026–2027 academic year.
Scholarships will be awarded to applicants who meet the CING admission requirements and are successfully selected following the evaluation of academic qualifications and a personal interview.

Master of Science (MSc) Programmes
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Be citizens and residents of South Africa
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution in a relevant field
- Hold a High School Leaving Certificate (or equivalent)
- Two Academic References
- Meet the English Language Proficiency requirements
Accepted English Language Tests
Regardless of whether previous studies were conducted in English, applicants must submit one of the following:
- IELTS (Academic) – Minimum overall score: 6
- TOEFL iBT – Minimum score: 85 (Home Edition not accepted)
- Cambridge IGCSE – English as a Second Language – Minimum score: C
Fields of Study
Scholarships are available for the following MSc programmes at CING:
- MSc in Molecular Medicine
- MSc in Medical Genetics
- MSc in Neuroscience
- MSc in Biotechnology
Scholarship Coverage
The scholarship includes:
- Full tuition fee waiver (valued at €8,000), awarded based on academic merit and fulfilment of CING’s admission requirements;
- Monthly stipend of up to €1,000 for 12 months, intended to cover accommodation and living expenses in Cyprus.
Please Note:
Recipients are advised to make additional financial provisions for expenses not covered by the scholarship.
